Unique temporary Ground Protection Gripper matting: Gain continual access to those previously inaccessible areas.
Approach
A gold mine development in Kalimantan Indonesia, faced significant challenges expanding through steep, erosion-prone terrain, where constant rainfall and unstable soils made traditional road construction costly and impractical. EcoMatPro conducted a comprehensive site survey to support continual production, mitigating costly delays. Identifying critical access bottlenecks and unstable slopes. Considering the heavy rainfall and steep gradients, a rapid-install, high-traction solution was required. The ECM-70 Gripper matting system was chosen for its reliable and secure grip for the trucks on inclines.
Strategic Gripper Matting Installation
The ECM-70 Gripper was deployed in targeted sections, specifically over soft-filled runoff gullies and high-traffic slope zones, to reduce accidental slipping risk and overall trucking cost. This focused installation approach minimised rental costs while maximising matting effectiveness in erosion-prone areas.
Project Outcomes
- Provided uninterrupted access on inclines up to 15% gradient
- Enabled safe passage for 35T haul trucks
- Provided access to previously inaccessible mining areas
- Reduced need for costly time consuming backfill and compaction with ongoing maintenance
- Delivered a cost-effective, rapid install, low-impact temporary access solution under extreme rainfall conditions
