Heavy-Duty Bamboo Access Matting for Coastal Swamp Oil & Gas Project

EcoMatPro® was selected by Pertamina, the national Oil & Gas company of Indonesia, to deliver a durable cost effective access matting solution for a critical reclaimed coastal swamp island project. The project requires matting support for pile driving and site access for a 2,000 hp drilling rig. Following a detailed site survey Dynamic Cone Penetration testing revealed subgrade conditions <3% CBR. EcoMatPro® engineered a custom bamboo matting system to ensure traction, load distribution, and stability. Designed to handle piling cranes, heavy lift equipment, and rig activities.
Engineered Matting Solution
ECM-70: Deployed across all access roads, hard-standing and rig site areas. This flush-fit bamboo access matting system supported drilling rigs, cranes, excavators, and forklifts. The superior load-bearing capacity and modular heavy-duty connectors played a significant role in the successful weight distribution of heavy loads.
Project Outcomes
- Delivered continual reliable access across swamp terrain with zero downtime during operations
- Did not require “pinning” to the ground during frequent flooding events. ECM-70 does NOT float.
- Maintained critical logistics and equipment flow, even in high rainfall / low-CBR conditions
- Provided a reusable, low-impact ground protection system that minimised environmental disruption
- After 3 months of continuous use, the client reported ZERO repair costs, confirming the performance and durability of EcoMatPro’s bamboo matting solution.
